Playing to sell-out audiences in early 2011 go!! Show gold will be returning to Melbourne and adelaide in 2012, featuring another amazing line up of artists, and with further concerts being scheduled in Brisbane and Perth.

The GO!! Show hit the television airwaves in 1964 to become the must-watch music show for the teenagers of the day. On stage together for the first time since the television show will be MASTERS APPRENTICES; MPD LTD; DINAH LEE; DARRYL COTTON; TONY WORSLEY; and returning to the stage for the second tour by popular demand JOHNNY YOUNG; NORMIE ROWE; RONNIE BURNS; BOBBY BRIGHT; MARCIE JONES and IAN TURPIE.

Baby Boomers came out in force for the 45 year anniversary tour of GO!! SHOW GOLD in March this year. Groups of friends got together to relive the music of their youth, parents brought their children to share their music memories and fans turned up in the ‘Mod’ fashion of the 60’s. Programs and merchandise sold out and hundreds of fans lined up following the concerts to meet their pop idols.

GO!! SHOW GOLD Producer Dennis Smith says – “I was involved in the production of the original GO!! Show back in the 60’s and always felt there would be interest in an anniversary concert, but even I was taken by surprise at the amount of interest the show generated and the ongoing calls I have had for another tour”.

The GO!! Show was a ground-breaking phenomenon when it first went to air 45 years ago, introducing live and local music to a new generation of music fans. It hit television screens in 1964 hot on the heels of the lifestyle shattering tour of The Beatles, creating the perfect vehicle for a stable of local teen stars and changing the lives of generations of Baby Boomers.

Fashions changed overnight. Sharp suits, velvet collars, thin ties, ‘laughing side boots’, black socks, hair heading south for teenage boys and big fringes, thick eye make-up for girls – not to forget girls screaming as their new pop idols sang their hits.

The GO!! Show introduced us to Johnny Young; Normie Rowe, Olivia Newton-John, Pat Carroll, The Strangers, Ian Turpie, Buddy England, Terry Dean, Bobby & Laurie, Colin Cook, Merv Benton, Marcie Jones, Yvonne Barrett, Joy Lemmon, Dinah Lee, Tony Worsley, MPD Ltd and more. It created the hit records and launched the pop band explosion – The Twilights, Masters Apprentices, The Groop, Ronnie Burns and the Flies, The Groove, the Cherokees and many more.

THE GO!! SHOW GOLD team has created a perfect reflection of the times. The energy and excitement of performers still at the peak of their talent transports the audience to the hysteria of 1964 – and the girls this time round may not scream, but will know all the hits word perfect!!
